act 3 hand in :weekly reflections

Reflection on your progress this week: 7/1/19-10/1/19

What:

Exactly happened in your words?
this week we made a animation involving tweening. we also talked about context and how that
affects the age rating in films, we also spoke about the split between genders in games and other
products.

Was your reaction?
I thought that the way genders are presented was honestly not surprising since the gaming population
was mainly male and the way characters are designed still pander to that audience.

So what:
Were your feelings at the time?
i thought tweening was going to be a easy task.

Are your feelings now? Are there any differences? Why?
and now i realise that tweening is difficult and it doesn't always look too natural especially on the software that we are working on

Positive things emerged from the situation, eg. For self/others? Troubles you, if anything?
i found that the tween option in animate is confusing and difficult to use.

Were your experiences in comparison to your colleagues, etc?
we had the same difficulty in operating the tween option

Now what:

Needs to happen to improve?
i think that i need to practice using animate a bit more to understand the way it run better.

Are you going to do?
try to use animate more when working on animations instead of using asprite

Might you do differently is faced with a similar situation?
i would probably do to tweening aspect first and then the other animation afterwards.

                                                                                                                     14.01.19-17.01.19

Reflection on your progress this week:
What:
Exactly happened in your words?
this week we focused on character creation and story mainly random character creation and the story circle.
Did you see? Did you do?
we made two characters to of ink splatters, played a RPG called 'Honey Heist' where we, bears, have to retrieve Lincolns honey hive at 'Honey con' we rolled a dice to see what we were, my group were a incompetent panda hacker called Gurtude. we also looked at the story circle and how to make our story more satisfying to the audience, with that we made two story circles of our own and turned one of them into a script and one of them into a storyboard.
Did other people do? Eg. Other students, lecturer
in the ink splatter task other students used the same ink splatters but saw different shapes in them making a completely different character to what I would have made.

So what:
Were your feelings at the time?
I didn't realise how much actually went into creating characters since I do a drawing first then add the personality after.
Are your feelings now? Are there any differences? Why?
I feel like I know that creating the personality of the character before hand can really help in creating the face and shapes of the character instead of drawing anything and adding personality on top

Positive things emerged from the situation, eg. For self/others? Troubles you, if anything?
I found it difficult to create characters that weren't in my style.

Now what:
Needs to happen to improve?
I feel like I need to work on creating characters outside of my own style to post the spectrum of which I can draw.

Might you do differently is faced with a similar situation?
I would probably try to be more creative with my characters instead of just drawing humans maybe I would try to steer away from that.

                                                                                                                 21.01.19 - 24.01.19

What:
Exactly happened in your words?
this week week we added audio to animate and we also made our own rigged character, we also did a bit of cut out animation.
Did other people do? Eg. Other students, lecturer
for the audio task other students used the facial expressions to create a form of lip syncing to their audio.
So what: Were your feelings at the time?
i felt like this way of animating can be very useful and time saving.
Positive things emerged from the situation, eg. For self/others? Troubles you, if anything?
when rigging our own characters  the limbs usually separated from each other so i feel that i just need to work on character rigging a bit more.

Now what:
Needs to happen to improve?
i need to work more on character rigging.
Happens if you decide to change anything?
i feel like the character rig will work better since i will change the start position of my rigged character from bent elbows to straight elbows.
